Hey! I'm a happy owner of a panp5, and recently the sound card that came with the motherboard seems to have failed. It used to work okay with occasional white noise/static, but recently has progressed into a state of near-uselessness (windows doesn't always recognize it exists, linux flags errors about it constantly, a bug that has temporarily made ubuntu (and even the live cd!) unbootable)
To the point already! I've had my laptop for about 14 months now, so I'm assuming theres no intel warranty left on it. I guess I'm either in the market for a motherboard or an external sound card, yes? The sound card sounds a lot cheaper and easier to deal with, but there are two questions I have: can I get a soundcard that I can fit within the body of the laptop (ie, so I don't have to have a usb/pci perephrial everywhere i go) and (heres the sys76 relevant question)... how/where do I install it? I'm not afraid to open up my computer (I've done ram and hard disks, easy stuff) but maybe this'll be tougher?
Thanks for any advice you can give!
